Decibels drop on Kuwait roads

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 29: The country has witnessed a noticeable decline in noise pollution on its streets, particularly the excessive sounds that previously disrupted several areas during the winter and rainy seasons. Many roads are now quieter, providing residents with a welcome sense of relief from the disturbances that were once commonplace. This improved level of tranquility is directly attributed to the strict enforcement measures implemented by the Ministry of Interior’s General Traffic Department.

The department has intensified its efforts to target vehicles that produce excessive noise, taking immediate action against violators, including impounding vehicles for a period of up to two months. A security source told the newspaper that the impact of these traffic campaigns is clearly reflected in the violation statistics.

As an example, the department recorded only 19 citations for excessive noise violations within a 24-hour period two days ago. This figure underscores the effectiveness of the measures in enforcing traffic regulations and preserving public peace. A reliable source confirmed that security campaigns carried out by the department are continuing, ensuring sustained monitoring and the implementation of legal measures against drivers of vehicles that generate excessive noise.
