The Zain First Division League in progress

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 4: The draw for the 2025-2026 Zain First Division League was held recently at the Kuwait Football Association headquarters. The opening round will see Al-Sulaibikhat face Al-Shamiya, Sporty take on Al-Yarmouk, Al-Sahel clash with Khaitan, and Burgan play against Al-Jazeera.

The league, set to kick off on September 14, will be organized into three groups this season.

Previously limited to just five clubs, the competition welcomes three new teams for the first time: Sporty, Al-Jazeera, and Al-Shamiya.

Al-Jazeera already made its mark last season by participating in both the Amir Cup and Crown Prince Cup, having been founded earlier this year.

All three new clubs have met the Football Association’s criteria, and after receiving approval from the Department of Fatwa and Legislation to officially register as private clubs, it was confirmed that no financial support will be provided.
