KUWAIT CITY, Sept 23: The Court of Appeals upheld death sentence rulings issued against a Kuwaiti citizen. The first case involves a citizen accused of killing his wife by running over her in Mutlaa desert. In the first case, the court upheld the death sentence imposed on a citizen convicted of killing his wife during Eid Al-Fitr. Case files indicate he beat her and then ran over her in the Mutlaa Desert.
The court previously referred the defendant for psychiatric evaluation to check his mental state. The ensuing report concluded that he feigned symptoms of a non-existent illness, as determined through the test for malingering, thereby confirming that there are no grounds to absolve him of criminal responsibility for his actions.
In the second case -- the incitement of sectarian strife and contempt for the Sunnis, the court overturned the four-year prison sentence imposed to a citizen. Instead, the court ordered him to pay a fine of KD10,000, suspended the implementation of the sentence for three years and required bail payment of KD1,000. This ruling is based on the X platform posts of the defendants, as the court deemed such posts offensive to the Sunnis.
