Death Penalty Confirmed In Shocking Rumaithiya Grandmother Murder Case

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 17: The Court of Appeals on Monday upheld the ruling of the Criminal Court to execute a citizen for killing his 85-year-old grandmother inside her home in Rumaithiya. This closes the second appeal in one of the most heinous cases of domestic murder that the country witnessed recently. The Public Prosecution demanded before the Criminal Court the maximum penalty for the accused, describing the crime as “heinous by all standards,” as the accused brutally slaughtered the victim, showing no humanity and no regard for her weakness or old age. Details of the case date back to the announcement of the Ministry of Interior on Sept 27, 2024 that the Criminal Investigation Department, with the support of the Public Security Sector, apprehended the accused hours after the crime was committed, in response to a report about the murder inside a house in Hawally Governorate. It was later revealed that the grandson was involved in the murder of his grandmother
