KUWAIT CITY, April 18: In line with the expectations of the Environment Public Authority about the occurrence of the red tide phenomenon and the accompanying death of fish, the Kuwait diving team announced that it had spotted recently dead fish in Naqaat Al-Shamlan in the Souq Sharq area, reports Al-Qabas daily.

The team indicated that all waste has been removed in cooperation with the Souq Sharq administration and the Kuwait Fishermen’s Union. The EPA had warned about a week ago of possible fish deaths in Kuwait Bay, resulting from high temperatures and stagnant water, in addition to some human activities (draining untreated water and rainwater into drainage networks), which contributed to decreasing the quality of sea water, and helped plankton to flourish — the vegetation that causes the phenomenon of red tide, which is accompanied by the death of fish.
