LOS ANGELES, Jan 22: Renowned television actor David Gail, known for his role as Dr. Joe Scanlon on the ABC soap opera “Port Charles” and appearances on “Beverly Hills, 90210,” has died at the age of 58. The news was shared on Instagram by Katie Colmenares, though the cause and date of death were not disclosed.

In a heartfelt tribute, Colmenares expressed the deep connection she shared with Gail, describing him as her constant companion and best friend. She pledged to hold his memory close to her heart, emphasizing the irreplaceable nature of their bond.

Gail’s television career in the mid-to-late 1990s was marked by significant roles, with a standout performance in the “General Hospital” spinoff “Port Charles,” where he portrayed Dr. Joe Scanlon in 216 episodes during the 1999-2000 season. Dr. Scanlon’s character was notably entangled in a romantic storyline with Dr. Karen Wexler, a central figure in the show.

Earlier in his career, Gail appeared in eight episodes of the iconic “Beverly Hills, 90210” on Fox. Initially cast as a hotel bellhop named Tom in the first season (1991), Gail returned in Season 4 (1993) as Stuart Carson, the son of a wealthy businessman engaged to Brenda Walsh, played by Shannen Doherty.

Reflecting on his unexpected return to the series, Gail shared his initial disbelief about playing different characters on the same show. However, he acknowledged that the unconventional move turned out to be successful.

In addition to his roles on “Port Charles” and “Beverly Hills, 90210,” Gail featured in 22 episodes of “Robin’s Hoods” (1994-1995) as Eddie Bartlett and 34 episodes of the series “Savannah” (1996-1997) in the role of Dean Collins, as per IMDb records.

Survivor details and other specifics were not available at the time of reporting. Messages to Gail’s representatives had not been returned as of Sunday night.
