‘Datura’ used in folk medicine

KUWAIT CITY, May 3: In the wake of a video clip warning of the poisonous properties of the Datura plant (seeds), the Environment Public Authority said “the Datura plant is a genus of wild plants found everywhere in Kuwait. Datura innoxia, and this plant is used in folk medicine as an analgesic and pain reliever in general,” said EPA sources. The same sources pointed out that “the authority had previously issued a press release in 2019 warning citizens and residents not to approach or eat this plant due to the toxicity of the seeds, as this plant grows naturally on street sidewalks and gardens after rain.”
