KUWAIT CITY, May 12: The Municipal Council, chaired by Abdullah Al-Mahri, convened on Monday and approved the registration of Dasman Palace as an archaeological and historical site in Kuwait.
In its main session, the Council also approved a request from the Communication and Information Technology Regulatory Authority (CITRA) to amend the conditions governing the establishment of public radio stations. The amendment involved modifying Clause No. 8, reducing the required distance between a station's fence and nearby private residences, schools, chalets, and farms from 20 meters to 12 meters. The proposal passed despite objections from three council members. The Municipality emphasized that any request to construct communication towers on state-owned land will be referred to the Municipal Council for review.
The Council rejected a proposal to permit commercial activities in areas designated for warehouse use. It also approved a request by the Environment Public Authority (EPA) to cancel a previous decision allocating the site of the old Shuwaikh police station in the Third Shuwaikh area to the EPA.
Additionally, the Council granted the Ministry of Justice’s request to renew the allocation of land for the Family Court building project in the Granada area (Block 3) of the Capital Governorate. The decision also included adjusting the boundaries of the associated parking areas to ensure they do not encroach on the Jahra Road right-of-way.
The Council further approved a proposal to revisit regulations related to building works and associated schedules. This includes reviewing requirements and specifications for marine chalets, investment resorts, and service centers across various regions of Kuwait.
