KUWAIT CITY, Nov 11,:Bosnian coach Darko Nesterovic initiated his role with Al-Arabi by leading the team’s first training session. This appointment followed Al-Arabi’s decision to bring him on board as a replacement for the dismissed German coach, Thomas Berdaric.
Darko expressed his joy at returning to the “Green Castle” for the third time, extending his gratitude to the Board of Directors and club president Abdulaziz Ashour for their trust.
“I am committed to giving my best to achieve the desired positive outcomes,” Darko stated.
Recognizing the challenges that Al-Arabi are currently facing, he maintained confidence in the potential for improvement. Darko hoped for a collaborative effort from the players, emphasizing their cooperation with his coaching staff and adherence to his training methods.
Highlighting Al-Arabi’s status as a premier team in Kuwait, Darko acknowledged the high expectations of the dedicated fanbase, assuring them of his dedication to achieving success.
Darko revealed that several players were dealing with injuries, leading him to conduct training with a reduced squad due to the absence of players called up to the first and Olympic teams. He specified that he would be working with 10 players currently unavailable.
While expressing a preference for a full squad, Darko acknowledged the need to adapt to the circumstances and anticipated the return of over 10 players after completing their national team duties.
Looking ahead, Darko faces two challenging matchups early in his tenure with “Al-Akhdar.”
The team is set to host Al-Zawraa of Iraq on November 27 in the fifth round of the AFC Cup Championship’s third group competitions. Following that, they will confront Kuwait in a pivotal eighth-round fixture of the Zain Premier League on December 3.
