KUWAIT CITY, Sept 23: The Court of First Instance acquitted a Kuwaiti citizen who was accused of possessing and selling drugs. According to the case file, the suspect was caught redhanded selling drugs to an undercover agent of the Drugs Control General Department.

The in-charge officer explained that he obtained information about the suspect in possession of drugs for consumption and sale. An undercover agent was sent to the suspect to buy drugs and the suspect was arrested during the transaction. Officers searched him and his house to find more drugs.

During interrogations, the suspect confessed to possessing and selling drugs. During the court session, the defense counsel Lawyer Inaam Haider said the procedures followed for arresting and searching her client are illegal because of the lack of a warrant from the Public Prosecution, adding that mobile phone of the suspect did not show any relevant information of calls that were made at the time of his arrest.

Jail extended: The Detention Renewal judge has ordered extension of the detention period of a DAESH hacker who is currently standing trial for allegedly joining the outlawed group and supporting its activities. The suspect confessed in front of the Public Prosecutor that he was part of the DAESH group and had supported its activities as well as encouraged other people to join.

He was also accused of traveling abroad to carry out harmful actions against another country, which could have affected the ties between Kuwait and the concerned country. He had allegedly recruited other people to join DAESH for the purpose of attacking the constituted authority in Kuwait and had provided fund for terrorist activities.

Warrant issued: The Public Prosecution has issued warrants for the arrest of the Kuwaiti blogger Sara Al-Driss for posting tweets on her personal account Twitter deemed offensive to HH the Amir, reports Al-Rai daily. The arrest warrant was issued after the Ministry of Interior filed a complaint against the suspect in connection with tweeting insults against the Amir and publishing false rumors about the release of former lawmaker Musallam Al-Barrak that he has been released from the Central Prison.
