LOS ANGELES, Nov 11, (Agencies): When the cries of his 2-year-old son pierced the air, Matt Krueger never anticipated the alarming scene he was about to witness. In September, the father of four took to TikTok, sharing a now-viral video capturing the moment his toddler son, Ross, encountered the sting of nearly 20 bees in their Des Moines, Iowa backyard.
Krueger, a full-time real estate investor, recounted the incident that unfolded on September 15. While working at one of his properties, he brought his kids along to enjoy the backyard. The fenced-in space provided play equipment for the children, and Krueger, though keeping a close eye on them from inside, had just given them snacks and water bottles at the front door before sending them around back.
As he watched from a window indoors, he saw Ross suddenly start screaming. Uncertain of the cause, Krueger swiftly ran outside, discovering his son under attack by a swarm of bees. Stung himself, Krueger grabbed Ross and rushed for the back door.
Once inside, Krueger, his two daughters, and Ross dealt with continued bee stings. The insects had infiltrated Ross's clothes, necessitating the removal and subsequent killing of the bees inside. They swatted them out of the air and crushed them on the ground.
Reviewing security footage later, Krueger realized it was a cluster of bees that had stung his son. His daughter inadvertently stirred them up, leading Ross to walk through the agitated swarm.
Fortunately, Ross did not suffer any allergic reactions to the stings and recovered without complications. Krueger, who shares his family with his wife Mariah, recounted the harrowing experience with relief that it ended without more severe consequences.
