The 32,000 narcotic pills seized from the Asian
KUWAIT CITY, May 20: Customs officers at Kuwait International Airport arrested an Asian after finding 32,000 narcotic pills in his luggage. The officers got suspicious of the Asian when they noticed his agitated demeanor, resulting in a thorough inspection of his luggage where they discovered plastic containers with the narcotic pills. During interrogation, the Asian admitted that he intended to sell the drugs. He was referred to the Drug Control General Department. Also, customs officers at Nuwaiseeb Border arrested an undisclosed person for the possession of four cigarettes filled with hashish.Asian bootlegger held: An Asian expatriate was arrested in possession of 70 packs of locally manufactured liquor in Farwaniya area. According to security sources, Farwaniya securitymen were patrolling Farwaniya Governorate when they suspected a van and ordered the driver to pull over. They checked his details to discover he is an Asian expatriate. Sensing his nervousness, securitymen checked the van to find 70 packs of alcohol. When questioned, he confessed that he was planning to sell the liquor packs to his clients. The suspect was arrested and referred with the confiscated liquor to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action. Meanwhile, two Egyptian expatriates were arrested in Khaitan area in possession of two cigarettes rolled with hashish and five narcotic pills. 38 drug cases registered in May: The Drug Control General Department (DCGD) registered 38 drug trafficking cases and arrested 46 persons from the beginning until the middle of this month. A security source disclosed the securitymen confiscated 2,358 kilograms of ice drugs, 1,889 kilograms of hashish, 1,730 kilograms of heroin, 864 grams of chemical substances and 10,177 narcotic pills within this period. A total of 28 persons found to have assisted drug dealers were referred to the Sentences Enforcement Department, in addition to an undisclosed number of people involved in traffic-related cases – some of whom were sentenced to 18 years in prison. Meanwhile, the Public Relations and Security Media Department in the Interior Ministry appealed to citizens and expatriates to fully cooperate with the security authorities in combating drugs. Indian in betrayal of trust: An Egyptian attorney working for a real estate company has filed a complaint with the concerned authorities accusing an Indian of betrayal of trust and stealing 45 containers full of construction materials, reports Al-Anba daily. The complainant said the theft was discovered during the stocktaking process.
