KUWAIT CITY, Sept 3: Acting Director General of the General Administration of Customs, Sulaiman Abdulaziz Al-Fahad, announced that, based on the directives of the Minister of Commerce and Industry and the Minister of Social Affairs and Community Development Fahd Al-Shariaan, customs instructions were issued to raise the fine for violating customs laws to 3 times the value of the goods seized, which is the maximum according to the unified customs law, reports Al-Qabas daily.

In a press statement, Al-Fahd confirmed that this decision comes after it was noticed recently that many attempts were made to smuggle subsidized supplies outside the country in violation of the law.
