KUWAIT CITY, Sept 28: Director General of the General Administration of Customs, Yousef Al-Nuwaif, on Saturday emphasized the need to intensify efforts and bolster cooperation among various customs departments to ensure the smooth flow of goods and safeguard the country from smuggling attempts.
Al-Nuwaif made the remarks during a field inspection of the Shuwaikh Port - Northern Ports Customs Administration and Failaka Island, accompanied by Deputy Director General for Research and Investigation, Saleh Al-Omar.
In a press statement following the visit, Al-Nuwaif praised the role of customs inspectors, describing them as a key pillar in protecting national security and supporting Kuwait’s economic system. He stressed the continuation of field follow-up operations aimed at enhancing discipline, improving readiness, and raising the overall level of performance within customs operations.
The customs chief also reaffirmed that the General Administration of Customs is advancing with its development plans to keep pace with evolving global challenges in the customs field.
As part of the inspection tour, Al-Nuwaif and Al-Omar visited the Container Inspection Center, where they reviewed specialized departments and were briefed on the operational mechanisms and procedures in place. The officials were presented with details on how transactions are processed efficiently while maintaining strict adherence to customs regulations.
Al-Nuwaif concluded by reaffirming the administration’s commitment to supporting frontline customs personnel and driving modernization efforts to enhance national security and trade facilitation.
