CUSTODIAN OF TWO HOLY MOSQUES KING SALMAN IN KUWAIT – Visit holds ‘paramount significance’

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 8, (KUNA): The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud of Saudi Arabia arrived in the country on Wednesday starting a scheduled official visit during which he would hold talks with His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman Bin Abdulaziz was welcomed at the airport by His Highness the Amir, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, senior sheikhs, Deputy Chief of the National Guards Sheikh Meshaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Minister of the Amiri Diwan Affairs Sheikh Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, the First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Deputy Premier and Interior Minister Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Deputy Minister of Amiri Diwan Affairs Sheikh Ali Jarrah Al-Sabah, Deputy Premier and Finance Minister and Acting Oil Minister Anas Al-Saleh, ministers, governors, senior State officials, ranking chiefs of the Army, the Police, the National Guards and the fire department.

The Saudi King arrived to formal reception ceremony during which the National Anthems of the two brotherly countries were played. The eminent guest proceeded, with company of His Highness the Amir, to display the Guards of Honor from units of the Kuwait Army. The King shook hands with the attending senior State officials and His Highness the Amir welcomed similarly officials accompanying King Salman.

The mission of honor accompanying the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques was chaired by the Deputy Premier and Interior Minister, Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khaled Al- Sabah.

The official Saudi delegation comprised State Minister Dr. Ibrahim Bin Abdulaziz Al- Assaf, Minister of Commerce and Investment Dr. Majed Bin Abdullah Al-Gasabi, Minister of Information and Culture Dr. Adel Bin Zaid Al-Tarifi, Head of the Royal Diwan Khaled Bin Abdulrahman Al-Issa, State Minister for External Trade Dr. Nezar Bin Obaid Madani and senior Royal Court.

The Saudi and Kuwaiti leaders and official proceeded to Bayan Palace where the eminent guests were accorded with a display by the cavaliers, popular troupes, along with a 21- gun salute. Meanwhile, His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al- Ahmad Jaber Al-Sabah has conferred Saudi King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud with the Order of Mubarak Al-Kabir and Order of Kuwait, the most prestigious Kuwaiti medals.

In a press statement, the Amir Diwan said that His Highness the Amir conferred the Saudi King with the two orders during his reception of the visiting King and his accompanying delegation at Bayan Palace late Thursday.

The honoring came in recognition of the King Salman’s remarkable efforts and achievements to maintain the security and stability of the sisterly Saudi Kingdom and its people, as well as to strengthen relations among Gulf Cooperation Council member states and bolster ties between the Kingdom and Kuwait and their peoples, noted the statement.

Later, the two leaders held official talks in the presence of His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al- Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah from the Kuwaiti side and the members of the Saudi delegation accompanying King Salman.

The talks focused on efforts to further bilateral relations and cooperation in all domains, stated Minister of Amiri Diwan Affairs Sheikh Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah. The leaders also discussed regional and international developments of mutual concern, as well as means to beef up joint Gulf action to meet the aspiration of Gulf nations in retaining security, stability and welfare.

The candid talks refl ected the depth and sincere desire of both countries to upgrade cooperation in various domains, Sheikh Nasser stressed. Saudi King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud received at his residence in Bayan Palace on Thursday His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah. The receptions were attended by Head of the Mission of Honor Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Mohammad Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah. Kuwaiti Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Salem Al- Humoud Al-Sabah said Thursday the visit by Saudi King Salman bin Abdualziz Al-Saud to Kuwait later today is of paramount significance.

Speaking to KUNA on the visit, Sheikh Salman Al-Humoud, who doubles as Chairman of the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters (NCCAL), said this historic visit is deemed a summit meeting between two wise Arab leaders. He added that the Ministry of Information and the NCCAL have worked out a distinct cultural ceremony at Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Center on Friday in order to welcome the Saudi Monarch’s visit to the State of Kuwait. He added that Kuwait has already been decorated with Kuwaiti and Saudi fl ags as a sign of warm welcome to the historic visit which is the first of its kind by the Saudi leader since he ascended the throne in January 2015.

The Minister noted that this warm welcome reflected the fact that the Kuwaiti leadership, government and people hold the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its king Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al- Saud in high esteem. It also refl ected the close and firm historical relationship between the State of Kuwait and the Kingdom, he said, pointing to the Kingdom’s unforgotten position during the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait on August 2, 1990, and its great support to the liberation and subsequent reconstruction efforts. Sheikh Salman Al-Humoud highly appreciated and commended the Kingdom’s relentless backing to justice and peace across the world just out of strong belief in firm principles and values. The Kuwaiti minister also lauded unprecedented accomplishments made in Saudi Arabia in all development domains and efforts aiming at achieving public welfare.

Kuwait has already been decorated with both Kuwaiti and Saudi fl ags as a sign of warm welcome to Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud’s visit to Kuwait. The fl ags refl ect the importance of the visit on both official and popular levels and they also show the strong bond between both nations. The visit by Saudi King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud to Kuwait will undoubtedly add another milestone to the strong and historical relations linking the two nations. In his first official state visit to Kuwait since ascending the throne on January 23, 2015, King Salman will focus on reinforcing the strong relations with the State of Kuwait. King Salman will be meeting with His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

The two leaders are expected to look into topics of mutual concern and will also touch on issues pertaining to bilateral relations. Regional and international happenings will also be on the radar of the top GCC leaders. King Salman visited Kuwait on numerous occasions, while His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah also made numerous visits to Saudi Arabia before and since becoming the head of the State of Kuwait.
