Current rise in oil prices to reduce deficit of public budget

KUWAIT CITY, July 4: Minister of Commerce and Industry and the former Minister of State for Planning and Development Dr Amani Bouresli says the current rise in oil prices will contribute to reducing the deficit of the public budget, reports Al-Anba daily. In an exclusive press statement, she indicated that the budget deficit may reach between KD 2 billion and KD 3 billion during the current fiscal year, which is much less than the estimated deficit of KD 10 billion.

Dr. Bouresli said, “In conjunction with the rise in oil prices, there is less talk about issuing a public debt law. This law is expected to be issued next year to fill the budget deficit that has persisted for more than six years.”
