DOHA, Dec 28: The Kuwait national curling team put in a strong showing at the Qatar International Open Championship, which concluded recently at the Ali bin Hamad Al-Attiyah Ice Arena in the Al Sadd district, finishing the tournament in third place.

The event featured 10 teams representing five countries, including Saudi Arabia, India, Belgium, and the host nation Qatar.

Head of the delegation and board member of the Winter Games Club, Mohsen Al-Ma’sab, said national team players Saud Al-Kandari and Fatima Abdul Latif delivered an impressive performance in the mixed doubles competition. The pair secured two victories and suffered just one defeat in the semifinals, earning third place overall.

Al-Ma’sab also noted that the Kuwaiti curling team claimed second place in the shot-accuracy discipline. In addition, Al-Kandari was named Best Male Player in the team category, while Fatima Abdul Latif received the Best Female Player award in the mixed doubles competition.
