KUWAIT CITY, Feb 20: In the last 48 hours, Kuwait has raised the ceiling of precautionary measures due to the increase in COVID-19 infection and death rates. This has rendered the reinstatement of curfew to become almost certain, awaiting a decision to be issued during the Cabinet meeting scheduled for tomorrow.
The Minister of Interior Sheikh Thamer Al-Ali and the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior Lieutenant General Essam Al-Naham held a meeting to discuss the preparations and measures that the Ministry of Interior would take in the event of a partial or total curfew.
Lieutenant General Essam Al-Naham yesterday issued a circular to the ministry’s officials, asking them to prepare for implementing necessary measures in the event of a partial or total curfew in the coming days, and calling for increasing the readiness of all field sectors.
According to security sources, the Ministry of Interior has raised the level of readiness in all field sectors in preparation for imposing the curfew, if decided by the Cabinet. The Civil Defense Department has also summoned volunteers.
