Cuban Ambassador to Kuwait, Allen Pérez Torres

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 3: Cuban Ambassador to Kuwait Allen Pérez Torres affirmed that his country is a tourist destination, which is rich in history, culture and natural beauty, stressing that Kuwaiti visitors can discover captivating stories in every corner of the country. Torres made the statement on the sidelines of a tourism conference organized by the Cuban Embassy to highlight the island’s most prominent tourist attractions and promote Kuwaiti tourism.

Assistant Foreign Minister for the Americas Nawaf Al-Ahmad, representatives of Kuwaiti tourism agencies, and ambassadors of Latin American countries attended the event. Torres disclosed that several Cuban cities, such as Old Havana – a UNESCO World Heritage Site – as well as Trinidad and Cienfuegos, boast of meticulously preserved historical centers that offer a vivid picture of life in old Cuba and reflect the influence of Neoclassical and Baroque architecture, which constitute the country’s unique character. He added “Cuban culture is vibrant and dynamic, a product of a rich blend of African, Spanish and Caribbean influences.”

He indicated that music and dance are considered the soul of the island, with energetic rhythms like son, rumba and mambo echoing through the streets, bars and cafés. He said visitors can also enjoy live performances, learn salsa from local instructors, and visit renowned jazz clubs that have hosted legends of world music. He pointed out that the Cuban people are the country’s true wealth, thanks to their warmth and hospitality, making every visitor feel at home.

He also highlighted Cuba’s flavorful cuisine, beautiful beaches with crystal clear waters, and the world-famous Cuban tobacco, which allows tourists to visit tobacco farms and learn firsthand about the production of the renowned Cuban cigars. He stated that Cuba has high-quality hotel infrastructure capable of receiving Kuwaiti tourists and that about 70 Kuwaiti citizens visited Cuba over the past year, hoping to increase this number in the coming years by strengthening tourism cooperation and intensifying promotion of the Cuban destinations in Kuwait.
