KUWAIT CITY, March 19: The Ministry of Social Affairs has prevented its expatriate staff from joining committees since more than two months ago as the Civil Service Commission (CSC) is expected to issue a decision in this regard at the beginning of fiscal 2018/2019, reports Al-Rai daily.

In a press statement, Undersecretary Saad Al-Kharaaz explained the ministry took this step in order to protect their financial rights. He said the CSC might issue a decision prohibiting expatriate employees in ministries and other State institutions from joining committees.

He pointed out it is unacceptable for anyone to work without pay, especially if it is overtime work, indicating the ministry is aware of the CSC’s plan to prohibit expatriate employees from joining committees. He clarified that in case the CSC does not push through with this move, the ministry will allow its expatriate staff to join committees.
