KUWAIT CITY, Aug 4: The General Department of Criminal Investigations for Provincial Affairs, part of the Interior Ministry's Criminal Security Sector, has conducted surprise raids targeting the theft and illegal sale of government-subsidized diesel fuel. Raids by the Criminal Investigations Departments of Jahra and Ahmadi led to the arrest of 28 Asian nationals accused of selling subsidized diesel at lower prices than at gas stations.
The raids took place in the Abdallah Port area of Al Ahmadi Governorate and the Saad Al Abdullah area of Jahra Governorate. The suspects have been referred to the relevant authorities, and action will be taken against any companies found to be benefitting from the sale of subsidized state diesel.
Through these sudden crackdown operations, the Interior Ministry is tightening its grip on the black-market trade in stolen subsidized diesel. The ministry's Criminal Security Sector vows to continue its ongoing efforts against the theft and illegal resale of fuel provided by the government at reduced cost to citizens.
