KUWAIT CITY, July 31: The Cyber Crimes department of the Ministry of Interior has stepped up efforts to identify the owners of imaginary accounts which specialize in stirring up confusion, discord, spread lies and undermine the dignity of people, reports Al-Qabas daily.

On the latest developments and measures taken by the security authorities in this regard, a source familiar with the department said the Criminal Investigations Department has currently ‘identified’ a group of owners of these accounts.

The source said 1,100 cases have been filed against these false accounts and charged with slander, defamation and sedition. Some of them are still being investigated. The sources revealed some of these accounts are run from abroad and have been identified.

The arrest warrants have been issued against these people and they will be taken into custody as soon as they step on the Kuwaiti soil. Twenty-four hours after the leakage of the minutes of government meeting which discussed the issue of tweeters, a finger of accusation has been pointed at a senior government official who is accused of cooperating with the owner of one account Atij Al-Misayyan who is currently in prison.
