Court Upholds 7 Year Sentence for a Kuwaiti Accused of Insulting Amir and Supporting ISIS

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 4: The Court of Appeal, chaired by Counselor Dr. Fahd Bouslaib, has upheld a seven-year prison sentence against a Kuwaiti citizen convicted of insulting His Highness the Amir on social media, promoting extremist ideologies, and planning to join the ISIS terrorist organization.

According to court records, the defendant was arrested after a series of confidential investigations conducted by the Ministry of Interior’s security services, which revealed his online activities and communications indicating extremist affiliations. Evidence presented to the court showed that the accused had used social media platforms to spread offensive and inciting content against the State and its leadership, while also expressing sympathy for ISIS and Takfiri ideology.

The court found the individual guilty of violating national security and cybercrime laws, emphasizing that such acts undermine the country’s stability and contradict Kuwait’s commitment to combating extremism and terrorism in all forms.
