Court sentences Juwaihil to 3 yrs for insulting tribe

KUWAIT CITY, April 15: The Criminal Court, presided over by Judge Miteb Al-Ardhi, sentenced Muhammad Al-Juwaihil to three-year imprisonment with hard labor and imposed a fine of KD 10,000 on charges of insulting the “Ajman Tribe”. The court also ordered a copy of the case file to be sent to the Public Prosecution to be filed under a new number to investigate the participants in the same discussion panel, reveal their information, and refer them to the court.

The Public Prosecution charged the accused with posting a statement on his social media account in which he mentioned phrases to disdain and despise a group of society, which is the Ajman tribe. It stated that the accused published, through his X account, audio clips in which he said the phrases that would offend public morals and disdain a group of society, which is the Ajman tribe. The prosecution also accused him of deliberately misusing a means of communications for committing the crime described in the first and second charges.

The court stated in the merits of its ruling that protecting national unity in all societies occupies a top priority that transcends other considerations. This requires concerted efforts and true national alignment to stand as an impenetrable barrier against anyone who deliberately spreads the seeds of strife and hostility among the components of society and undermines security and societal peace within the country. The real danger that undermines the achievement of national unity and harmony among the people of one nation is undoubtedly the racial, tribal, and sectarian alignment that creates a state of hatred, disharmony, and division within society.
