KUWAIT CITY, Aug 6: The Ministry of Interior confirmed on Tuesday that traffic violations will not be dismissed simply by being referred to court. These violations are considered “state funds” and remain in effect throughout the legal process.

Lieutenant Colonel Abdullah Bu Hassan, Head of the Public Relations and Traffic Awareness Department at the General Traffic Department, explained that referring a traffic violation to court is a standard “legal procedure.” He emphasized that violators have the right to challenge the violation and opt out of settling it through the General Traffic Department.

Bu Hassan clarified that traffic violations are not permanently dropped because they represent state revenue. Instead, they are presented to the court for a judge to determine an appropriate ruling based on the case. He added that “traffic violations are transformed from ordinary traffic misdemeanors to enforcement of judgments” once they enter the judicial system.
