KUWAIT CITY, Mar 5: In a dramatic twist that has shaken public trust, the Court of Appeal has sentenced an officer, two policemen, a stateless person (bedoun), and a Syrian couple to five years in prison with hard labor after uncovering a calculated plot to frame a Syrian expat in a fabricated drug case.
The court ruled that the defendants conspired to arrest the man and plant narcotics in his vehicle, acting at the instigation of his ex-wife in what prosecutors described as a revenge-driven scheme. The shocking plan unraveled only after meticulous investigations by anti-narcotics officers, who detected inconsistencies in the original arrest and launched a deeper probe.
According to case details, the victim had initially been detained by security patrols on drug possession charges. However, anti-narcotics investigators later uncovered evidence that the arrest had been staged. The probe revealed coordination between the ex-wife, the officer, and two Ministry of Interior soldiers, along with accomplices, to falsely implicate the man.
In its ruling, the Court of Appeal ordered the dismissal of the three security personnel from their posts. The remaining convicts — the bedoun individual and the Syrian man and woman — will be deported after serving their sentences.
The verdict marks a decisive stand against abuse of authority and the manipulation of law enforcement powers for personal vendettas, sending a strong message that no one is above the law.
