KUWAIT CITY, May 22: The First Instance Court obligated a man to pay KD 58,000 to a Kuwaiti woman as compensation for the harm he caused her and the benefits she deserved. The dispute started when the defendant deceived the plaintiff by claiming he has a big project with huge benefits. He convinced the plaintiff to give him KD 20,000 for her to have a share in the project and he signed the trust paper. After about three years, the defendant did not hand the plaintiff her portion of the supposed benefits and he also refused to give her the capital. Attorney Noha Al-Rayess filed a lawsuit on behalf of the plaintiff demanding for compensation that her client deserves. Meanwhile, the Administrative Court has ordered Director General of Kuwait Municipality in his official capacity to pay KD 25,000 to a Kuwaiti citizen to compensate him for damages incurred due to demolition of his camping materials which had spoiled his plan to enjoy camping with members of his family, and he ended up losing the money he paid for renting the tents. According to the plaintiff counsel Lawyer Ali Al-Ali, his client rented a real estate at the International Fair Ground Area in south of the Sixth Ring Road at KD 1,500 per month. He erected a tent and fenced the area, using two generators to power the place without disturbing anybody. He was shocked when officials from Kuwait Municipality demolished the camping materials based on the claim that the structure was an encroachment on state property on which nobody should own or build anything. Syrian’s KD 1,200 stolen: An unknown individual stole KD 1,200 from the fl at of a Syrian expatriate when the latter was out with his family. According to security sources, the victim was shocked when he and his family returned to their apartment in Hawally area to find the place ransacked. He rushed to his bedroom and looked into one of his drawers to discover KD 1,200 was missing. He immediately notified the Operations Room of Ministry of Interior, after which securitymen rushed to the location with officers from General Department for Criminal Evidences, examined the fl at and lifted fingerprints and other evidences. A case was registered and investigations have been launched to find and arrest the burglar. Meanwhile, an Egyptian expatriate who is wanted by law for his involvement in cases related to theft and breach of trust was arrested by officers from the Criminal Investigation Department. Travel agent sells fake tickets: A 50-year-old Kuwaiti has filed a complaint with the Keifan Police Station accusing an unidentified travel agent of selling him fake travel tickets and counterfeit hotel reservation, reports Al-Shahed daily. The complainant said he paid the agent KD 1,500 to book for him and his family tickets and accommodation in a hotel. However, when he checked in at the airport, he discovered the tickets were fake. He later discovered that there was no hotel accommodation booked in his name. The police are looking for the suspect. 500 liquor bottles seized: The Farwaniya police have arrested an Asian for bootlegging and seized from him 500 bottles of liquor, reports Al-Shahed daily. The daily added, the bootlegger made a vain attempt to escape by leaving behind his car and running for his life. The suspect and the contraband have been referred to the concerned authorities.
