KUWAIT CITY, Nov 8: The Court of Appeals has ordered a woman to pay KD 45,000 in diya (Islamic blood money) and compensation for emotional distress to a father whose three children tragically drowned at sea, reports Al-Seyassah daily. The ruling followed a civil lawsuit filed by Lawyer Ali Al-Ali on behalf of the father, seeking compensation for the emotional suffering and losses resulting from the heartbreaking incident. The case concerns the drowning of the three siblings, which was attributed to negligence in their supervision, according to the case records and an earlier criminal ruling.
In the related criminal proceedings, the court decided not to impose a formal sentence on the defendant but instead ordered her to undertake to maintain good conduct. Lawyer Al-Ali subsequently filed the civil lawsuit, seeking to hold the defendant financially liable for the diya, as well as material and moral damages, stressing that his client was entitled to compensation for the loss of his three children.
