Court acquits Kuwaiti of threatening to kill wife

KUWAIT CITY, July 27: The Court of Appeals acquitted a citizen of verbally abusing and threatening to kill his wife in a domestic violence case, reports Al- Seyassah daily. The court asserted that criminal convictions must be based on conclusive evidence, and that any doubt must be interpreted in favor of the accused. Attorney Youssef Al-Mohammad, from the Office of Attorney Inam Haidar, defended the citizen, arguing that the evidence is insufficient and there is no conclusive proof to substantiate the charges against his client.

The Public Prosecution had earlier charged the citizen with assaulting and threatening to kill his wife, based on her statements and the initially attached medical report. The accused denied all the charges from the beginning of the investigation. The defense maintained the innocence of the citizen, asserting that the case file lacked conclusive evidence to support the charges, and that the case is based solely on the victim’s testimony, without any independent evidence or circumstantial proof to confirm the charges as per the law.
