KUWAIT CITY, July 16: The Court of Appeals has overruled the verdict issued by a lower court which imposed a fine of KD200 on a Kuwaiti citizen and referred him to the civil court.

The court instead acquitted him of the charges of unintentionally causing the death of his friend by driving at high speed, recklessness and being careless.

The Public Prosecution had charged the citizen with reckless driving, speeding and neglecting traffic rules and regulations, which posed threat to his life and the life of the other motorists, and causing an accident which led to the death of his friend who succumbed to serious injuries. Representing the citizen was Lawyer Abdulmohsen Al-Qattan who presented the court with the document from Ministry of Interior as per which his client had reported the accident that the court is looking into.
