KUWAIT CITY, Oct 7: The Criminal Court acquitted a defendant of defrauding a female citizen. Case files indicate that the Public Prosecution charged the defendant with deceiving the female citizen and using fraudulent means to lure her into entering into a vegetable stand, restaurant and café venture with him. The victim was led to believe that there was a joint commercial project with the defendant, who asked her to finance it with KD40,000.
However, she later discovered that the business was not at the location he specified, so she demanded that he return the amount, but her efforts were in vain. He later acknowledged in a signed letter that he owed her the aforementioned sum. The court explained in its ruling that it was not reassured by the statements of the complainant, as the documents contained no evidence proving the defendant’s use of fraudulent methods to induce her to hand over the money.
