GOA, India, Jan 14, (Agencies): Accused of murdering her four-year-old son in a Goa service apartment, Suchana Seth was compelled by the security authorities to confront her estranged husband on Saturday. Amidst an ongoing divorce battle and a domestic violence case, the couple engaged in a 15-minute face-off at a Goa police station, during which it was nothing but a ‘blame game and verbal spat’.
Venkat, the estranged husband who was abroad when the alleged murder occurred, suggested that the child might have expressed a desire to meet him, leading Suchana to kill him in a fit of anger. The couple, already navigating a contentious divorce, had a restraining order in place since August 18, 2022, preventing Venkat from entering Suchana's residence or contacting their son through any means.
Despite weekly visitation rights granted to Venkat, a point of contention in their nearly finalized divorce, Suchana opposed these interactions. Additionally, she filed a domestic violence case against Venkat, accusing him of physical abuse, a claim he denied in court.
During the brief confrontation, the couple traded blame for their troubled relationship. When asked about the alleged murder, Suchana maintained that she had no knowledge of their son's death, echoing her statements to the police. According to her account, she fell asleep while the child was alive and found him dead when she woke up.
Venkat informed the authorities that Suchana had requested a meeting with the child on January 7, but she and the child never showed up at the agreed-upon location. Despite attempts to contact her, he received no response.
This encounter marked the first time Suchana and Venkat faced each other since the tragic incident. Amidst the accusations and counter-accusations, the details surrounding the child's death remain a point of contention between the estranged couple.
