KUWAIT CITY, Aug 9: The Court of Appeals overturned the verdict issued by the Criminal Court which acquitted a Kuwaiti citizen and his wife who were accused of torturing their Filipina maid.The court instead sentenced the couple to four-year imprisonment each with hard labor.According to the case file, the wife used to torture the housemaid using electrical iron, a metal bar and electrical cable, which resulted in severe injuries and permanent disability estimated at 25 percent of the body as stated in a medical report.
