KUWAIT CITY, May 12: Kuwait’s Commercial Control and Consumer Protection Department has continued its market inspection campaigns, leading to the seizure of counterfeit goods and banned chewing tobacco products during raids in Ahmadi and Mubarak Al-Kabeer governorates.

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry said inspection teams in Ahmadi Governorate raided a commercial store found possessing, displaying, and selling counterfeit products imitating well-known brands with the intent to market and distribute them.

Authorities confiscated 543 counterfeit items, including clothing, handbags, shoes, and women’s accessories.

In a separate operation, emergency inspection teams in Ahmadi and Mubarak Al-Kabeer Governorate conducted inspections at several grocery stores and seized 1,807 bags of chewing tobacco in various sizes.

Officials said chewing tobacco is among the prohibited products banned from import, display, marketing, or trade under Ministerial Resolution No. 216 of 2014. One grocery store was immediately shut down following the violation.

The ministry confirmed that legal action has been taken against those involved.
