KUWAIT CITY, Nov 24: The cost of hiring domestic workers from abroad through domestic labor recruitment offices has increased remarkably from KD750 to KD1,200, reports Al- Jarida daily quoting sources.
Sources said the cost of turning over domestic workers to their sponsors reached KD1,500; attributing the recent increase to the lack of knowledge of a ministerial decision obligating domestic labor recruitment offices to define the cost.
Sources added one of the reasons behind the recent increase in the cost of hiring domestic workers is that a number of countries like Ethiopia and Nepal stopped sending domestic workers to Kuwait
