Corruption detected in multiple departments

KUWAIT CITY, July 4: The higher management at Kuwait Municipality is keen on filling up vacant supervisory positions, including nine vacancies in various monitoring departments and one in the Tenders and Contracts Department, reports Al-Rai daily quoting a reliable source. After reviewing the periodic reports on the performance of several departments, the Municipality found irregularities in the work procedures, quality of completed work, and mechanism for control over workers in these departments, the source revealed.

The source told the daily that the administration reviewed the reports of the State Audit Bureau for fiscal 2020/2021 and stressed the need to address the bureau’s comments, including the unlawful disbursement of shift allowances to seven managers with a total value of more than KD30,000; in addition to 15 inspectors and technicians and one supervisor with a total value exceeding KD54,000.
