Cooperatives to exempt rent

KUWAIT, Aug 8: The Ministry of Social Affairs announced that it has addressed the Federation of Consumer Cooperative Societies to inform them about exempting or reducing the rent of those affected by coronavirus crisis.

The assistant undersecretary Salem Al-Rashidi, said in a statement addressed this letter due to the exceptional circumstances resulting from the pandemic and the precautionary measures it imposed by the Council of Ministers, including a partial or complete suspension of commercial activities during the periods of the ban.

Al-Rashidi stated that this measure came in coordination with the Ministry of Finance to exempt cooperative societies from state property fees, starting from April until the end of precautionary measures, in implementation of Cabinet Resolution No. 516/2020, seeking by the Ministry of Affairs to solve the problems related to businesses in cooperative societies
