Coop workers misuse authority

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 20: Two workers in the supply branch of one of the cooperative societies have been using the weighing machine of the cooperative to weigh the baggage of Asians for 500 fils per bag – bags of travelers to ensure they do not carry more than the permitted weight by the airlines when they travel to their home country, reports Al-Rai daily.

This came to light when a Kuwaiti documented the incident and posted it on the social media and in turn the Ministry of Commerce and Industry asked the cooperative society management to identify the workers and take punitive action.

During interrogation two workers reportedly admitted to the charge and and the ministry has issued regulations to control such behavior in future. The daily did not say if the workers have been punished.
