Cooler Nights, Scattered Showers Expected Friday-Saturday in Kuwait

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 5: The Meteorology Department said the country will experience moderate daytime weather, tending toward cooler conditions, and cold at night during the weekend, with chances of increasing cloud cover, scattered rain, and winds that may stir up dust.

Director of the department Dharar Al-Ali informed Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that weather maps and numerical models indicated that the country is affected by the extension of a surface high-pressure system, which is gradually weakening, hence, the advancement of a surface low-pressure system on Thursday evening. This is accompanied by a warm and humid air mass, leading to an increase in low and mid-level clouds on Friday and Saturday.

Al-Ali revealed that winds are light to moderate southeasterly, with speeds reaching up to 50 kilometers per hour during the daytime on Friday, stirring dust at times, with a chance of scattered rain that may occasionally be thundery.

He stated that daytime weather on Thursday was moderate and partly cloudy, with northwesterly winds shifting to variable and light to moderate speeds ranging from eight to 30 kilometers per hour. Maximum temperatures ranged between 20 and 22 degrees Celsius, while the sea was light, with wave heights between one and four feet.

He said the nighttime weather tended toward cooler and cold conditions, partly to mostly cloudy, with variable winds that were light in direction and speed ranging between six and 22 kilometers per hour. Minimum temperatures ranged between eight and 10 degrees Celsius, and the sea was light, with wave heights of one to two feet.

He added that daytime weather on Friday will be moderate and mostly cloudy, with winds shifting to southeasterly, light to moderate in speed, ranging between 10 and 32 kilometers per hour, with a chance of scattered rain. Maximum expected temperatures will range between 20 and 22 degrees Celsius, and the sea will be light to moderate, with wave heights between one and  four feet.

He indicated that on Friday evening, the weather will be cooler, mostly cloudy, with light to moderate southeasterly winds that may become active at times, ranging between 12 and 42 kilometers per hour, with a chance of scattered rain that may occasionally be thundery. Minimum expected temperatures will range between 12 and 14 degrees Celsius, and the sea will be light to moderate, with wave heights rising from two to six feet.

He disclosed that daytime weather on Saturday will be moderate and mostly cloudy, partly cloudy at times, with southeasterly to southerly winds that are light to moderate and may become active at times, ranging between 15 and 50 kilometers per hour, stirring dust, with a chance of scattered rain that may occasionally be thundery. Maximum expected temperatures will range between 18 and 20 degrees Celsius, and the sea will be moderate to high, with wave heights between three and six feet.

He said the Saturday night weather will tend toward cooler conditions, mostly cloudy, with light to moderate southeasterly winds that may become active at times, ranging between 12 and 42 kilometers per hour, with a chance of scattered rain. Minimum expected temperatures will range between 12 and 14 degrees Celsius, and the sea will be light to moderate, with wave heights rising between two and six feet. (KUNA)
