DUBAI, Aug. 11: A container ship was involved in an incident with military forces in the Gulf of Oman near Gwadar, Pakistan, according to an advisory issued Tuesday by the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO).
UKMTO said it received a report of the incident at 0715 UTC, with the information provided by the vessel’s master.
The maritime security agency did not identify the military forces involved or provide details about what occurred. It also did not immediately report any casualties, damage or the nature of the interaction.
Authorities are aware of the incident and relevant investigations are ongoing, UKMTO said.
UKMTO advised vessels operating in the area to review the latest maritime security information and maintain awareness of the evolving operational environment.
The incident comes amid heightened maritime security concerns in the region, particularly around key shipping routes linking the Arabian Sea, Gulf of Oman and Strait of Hormuz.
