LOS ANGELES, Oct 23, (AP) Naomi Osaka is sharing her personal journey through the challenges of new motherhood. In a recent heartfelt post on X (formerly Twitter), the 26-year-old tennis star opened up about her struggles with confidence as a new mom.

She expressed, “Something I’ve had to confront recently is battling the nagging fear that I won’t be a good mom. Numerous doubts swarmed my thoughts, and I had to swat them away like bothersome mosquitoes.” Osaka’s words resonated with her followers in both English and Japanese.

Osaka revealed that her 3-month-old daughter, Shai, whom she shares with rapper Cordae, played a pivotal role in helping her confront these insecurities. She shared, “Whenever I look into Shai’s eyes and hold her, I’m reminded of how much this little person depends on me. It compels me to strive to be a better mom. Witnessing your child’s rapid growth is a strange and beautiful experience – they seem to double in size in just a few months.”

To stay grounded and cherish the present, Osaka has made a conscious effort to remember to “breathe.” She emphasized the importance of gratitude in her life, saying, “Gratefulness reminds me to pause and savor the small moments, as well as the significant ones. I’m deeply appreciative of another year, and I want to express my heartfelt thanks to everyone who believes in me.”

Naomi Osaka and Cordae welcomed their daughter in July in Los Angeles. Just a month before Shai’s arrival, Osaka had joyfully revealed the gender of their baby at a princess-themed baby shower. She shared snapshots on Instagram from the party, featuring herself in front of a balloon display and a sign that read, “A little princess is on the way.”
