TEHRAN, Jul 13: Iran's state broadcaster IRIB on Monday denied reports that explosions had occurred in several southern cities, contradicting earlier reports by state-run and semi-official media.

In a post on Telegram, IRIB said no explosions had taken place in Bandar Abbas, Hengam, Larak, Qeshm, Jask or Sirik as of Monday.

The statement contradicted earlier reports by the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) and the IRGC-affiliated Tasnim News Agency, which had reported explosions in Bandar Abbas and Larak.

Meanwhile, IRNA separately reported that the sound of four missile impacts was heard near Konarak in southeastern Iran. According to the agency, the explosions were also audible in the nearby cities of Chabahar and Dashtiari.

Iranian authorities have not yet provided an official explanation for the conflicting reports.
