Celebrity questioned over inflated bank account

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 12: Attorney General, Counselor, Dirar Al-Asousi, has issued a decision to confiscate the property of well-known social media personalities including yachts and jet ski until the completion of investigations and the source of their money is identified based on a complaint filed against them by the Financial Investigation Unit after it became clear that their bank accounts had suddenly bloated, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

Meanwhile, M.B., one of the celebrities whose bank accounts have been frozen and a travel ban has been slapped against him for a similar reason, announced his office was searched by the Attorney General’s attorney and papers examined and he was asked questions and he answered them. M.B. on his Twitter account denied his office was raided, saying: “I was at home and I received a call from the State Security Agency that I must come to the company because of the presence of the Attorney General’s attorney at the company’s headquarters.”

He went on to say, “I went to the company and opened the door and the ‘visitors’ checked all the papers pertaining to the company business and I answered all the inquiries related to the company and all the questions of the Deputy Attorney General M.B. explained this lasted from 4:30 in the afternoon till about eight at night.

For its part, sources said the attorney general inspected the company’s books and documents to ensure its activities and the extent of its involvement, if any, in money laundering activities, and ordered that some documents be safeguarded.
