RIYADH, Oct 16: Following the international break, the Saudi Roshn League returns with the fifth round, starting today as Al-Ittihad takes on Al-Fayha. The defending champion hopes for a strong start under its new coach, Sérgio Conceição.
Today’s schedule also features Al-Kholood vs. Al-Najma and Al-Ahli vs. Al-Shabab, while Saturday will see Al-Ittifaq clash with Al-Hilal, Al-Akhdoud face Al-Hazem, and Al-Nassr host Al-Fateh.
Al-Ittihad appointed Portuguese coach Sérgio Conceição to replace Laurent Blanc, signing a contract through 2028. Blanc and his staff ended their tenure in late September, a day after a defeat to Al-Nassr.
Al-Ittihad currently sits third in the league with nine points, earned from three consecutive wins before a 0-2 loss to Al-Nassr in round four.
Conceição shared his excitement for his new role, stating in a club video on X: “This is a big club, a team used to winning titles. We are here to continue the club’s tradition of success and bring more championships.”
Meanwhile, Al-Nassr, led by Jorge Jesus, aims to extend its unbeaten run and remain the only team with victories in every league match this season when they hosts Al-Fateh on Saturday.
Al-Hilal will seek to climb the league standings in their match against Al-Ittifaq tomorrow.
