Competition Protection Authority conducts study on number of market sectors

KUWAIT CITY, May 21: Board Chairman of Competition Protection Authority Dr Rashed Al-Ajmi said the authority has conducted a study covering a number of market sectors to determine any action which harms competitiveness.

In a press statement, Al-Ajmi disclosed the study targeted many sectors including private education, private hospitals and foodstuff market; in addition to exclusive contracts based on Article 10, Item Seven of the relevant law which stresses the importance of analyzing markets and combating monopoly. He also confirmed the formation of a team tasked to present recommendations based on the results of studies and surveys. He affirmed the teams in the authority have started coordinating with international experts in studying market systems including a number of standards developed by the International Institute of Marketing Professionals (IIMP).
