KUWAIT CITY, Oct 28: Chairman of the Council of Radiology and Radiotherapy departments at the Ministry of Health Dr. Buthaina Al-Kandari says colorectal cancer ranks first among the most common cancers among Kuwaiti men, and third among the most common cancers among Kuwaiti women following breast cancer and thyroid cancer. In a special press statement issued to Al-Seyassah on the sidelines of the inauguration of a colorectal cancer imaging workshop yesterday under the patronage of the Minister of Health Dr. Ahmad Al-Awadhi in the presence of an elite group of doctors and specialists inside and outside Kuwait, Dr. Al- Kandari said the high rates of colorectal cancer in the country was a major incentive and reason for shedding light on the latest diagnostic and therapeutic methods for the disease, including providing continuous training techniques through cooperation with the best international centers. She highlighted the importance of workshops and scientific forums to develop the skills of doctors and specialists in various scientific fields through access to global expertise and experiences.

Dr. Al-Kandari affirmed the role of the Kuwait Cancer Control Center as one of the best oncology treatment centers in the region, as it is equipped with the best and latest international technologies in order to achieve the highest levels of diagnostic and therapeutic services. In addition, Head of the Radiology Department at the Kuwait Cancer Control Center and Head of the Colorectal Tumor Imaging Workshop Dr. Mashael Bandar said the workshop will be held for three days from October 26 to October 28 under the umbrella of the Council of Radiology and Radiotherapy departments and under the patronage of the Minister of Health Dr. Ahmad Al-Awadhi. In a special press statement to Al- Seyassah, Dr. Bandar explained that the workshop hosts three lecturers from Europe with the aim of learning about the latest developments in imaging tumors of the rectum and colon through lectures and workshops. About 180 doctors participated, including 120 doctors in the workshops and 60 doctors in the lectures. The workshop is part of the ongoing medical education program at the Kuwait Institute for Medical Specialties. Participants in the workshop are given 16 continuing medical education points and 10 points in the lecture.
