KUWAIT CITY, Dec 30: A noticeable drop in temperatures is expected today, with minimums falling to between 2°C and 5°C.
Acting Director of the Meteorological Department, Darrar Al-Ali, said the country will be affected from today, Tuesday, by a cold air mass accompanied by strong winds that may raise dust and reduce visibility in some areas. There is also a chance of frost at dawn on Wednesday.
Al-Ali explained that weather maps and numerical models indicate the influence of a gradually strengthening high-pressure system combined with a cold air mass. This system is expected to cause a steady and significant decline in temperatures starting today, along with active northwesterly winds exceeding 50 kilometres per hour.
He noted that the strong winds will stir up dust, leading to reduced horizontal visibility in certain areas, while sea conditions will be rough, with wave heights exceeding six feet. Daytime conditions will range from cool to cold, while nights will be cold to very cold.
According to the forecast, maximum temperatures today will range between 16°C and 18°C, while minimum temperatures at dawn on Wednesday are expected to fall between 2°C and 5°C. On Wednesday, daytime highs will range from 13°C to 15°C, with continued chances of frost during the early morning hours.
Al-Ali added that temperatures are expected to rise gradually again starting Thursday, with maximum temperatures forecast between 18°C and 20°C and milder overnight conditions.
