Cold wave destroys crops in Kuwait

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 12: The President of the Farmers Union, Abdullah Al-Dimak said the severe cold wave that hit the country has destroyed agricultural products in the Abdali and Wafra as the temperatures reached below zero degrees Celsius, reports Al-Anba daily.

Al-Dimak told the daily the Public Authority for Agricultural Affairs and Fish Resources (PAAAFR) must shoulder its responsibility towards these two affected areas and must assess the situation and compensate the farmers. He added that farmers need support to continue with their local produce since they provide markets with vegetables and other goods. He noted the frost damaged the crops such as potatoes, tomatoes, eggplant, pepper and other products causing losses worth thousands of dinars
