KUWAIT CITY, Sept 22: Minister of State for Communications Affairs Omar Al-Omar affirmed on Sunday that Kuwait's cooperation with Google Cloud underscores the country's strong commitment to embracing advanced digital solutions. Al-Omar highlighted that cloud computing is essential for strengthening Kuwait's digital infrastructure and plays a critical role in supporting development across various sectors.
In a statement to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) following his participation in a dialogue workshop organized by the National Cybersecurity Center in cooperation with Google Cloud, Al-Omar noted that the collaboration comes under the framework of a strategic partnership agreement between the State of Kuwait and Google Cloud. The agreement aims to drive the country’s digital transformation and enhance its capabilities in cloud services.
Al-Omar emphasized that integrating cloud computing with the nation’s cybersecurity systems provides a foundational safeguard for data protection, ensuring the continuity and sustainability of digital services.
During the workshop, which was titled “Challenges of Adopting Cloud Computing,” key national leaders and cybersecurity experts discussed the opportunities and challenges associated with cloud adoption. Eng. Abeer Al-Awadhi, Head of the National Cybersecurity Center, also spoke to KUNA, expressing her pride in the collaboration with Google Cloud. She stressed the importance of ongoing cooperation between government entities to bolster Kuwait's cybersecurity infrastructure.
Al-Awadhi further outlined the significance of data classification and management during the workshop, noting that these mechanisms are crucial for safeguarding information and maintaining the confidentiality and reliability of digital services.
This partnership reflects Kuwait's ongoing commitment to modernizing its digital infrastructure and ensuring robust cybersecurity systems, reinforcing its long-term vision for technological advancement and sustainable development.
