‘Covid-19 vaccines used in Kuwait highly safe’

KUWAIT CITY, March 14: Minister of Health, Sheikh Dr Basil Al-Sabah said all Covid-19 vaccinations used in Kuwait are highly safe, with reassuring results, and their resistance to the epidemic is confirmed, reports Al-Anba daily. He praised God for the good results and added, “I advise everyone to take the initiative to register for vaccination, to protect them and to contribute to increase community immunity.”

Meanwhile, at a time when the country needs to increase anti-corona virus vaccines, the closure of the Kuwait Vaccination Center at the Mishref Fairgrounds and other 15 centers spread all over the country during the holidays was highly criticized, reports Al-Qabas daily. Observers stressed the need to take advantage of the time factor to accelerate the pace of vaccinations to work to contain the epidemic, whose numbers have increased dramatically during the past few days.

Observers said the ministry currently has thousands of doses, including the “Pfizer” vaccines which are expected to arrive Sunday, so it is illogical to close vaccination centers during holidays, as it is necessary to operate them constantly to attain herd immunity. In the meantime, by the end of the month of Ramadan, the pace of Covid- 19 vaccination campaign might reach desired levels, rendering ineffective measures such as curfews and lockdown, but under the condition that the companies contracted to supply vaccines do so as per the scheduled dates, reports Al-Rai daily quoting sources from the health sector.

They said, “A large quantity of doses is expected to arrive during the coming period”, indicating that the Minister of Health Sheikh Dr Basel Al-Sabah held a virtual meeting recently with officials of the manufacturers to discuss the arrival dates of the vaccine batches during the coming period. The sources revealed the strength of the health system and its high capabilities to vaccinate more than 300,000 people per month, provided that vaccines are available.
